(New York) LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK, an Epic Zombie Action Thriller by Qui Nguyen, will invade the East Village’s Gene Frankel Theater for a strictly limited 17-performance engagement April 5 - 21, 2013.
What is LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK? As audiences enter the theater they’re handed a poncho to shield them from the blood and a beer to shield them from the terrifying realities of the new dystopian world order: The Undead are on the loose and it’s up to some of history’s most famous characters to save the world from the Zombie Apocalypse. Trapped in the middle of an epic battle to survive – complete with high-flying fight sequences choreographed by legendary fight directors Rick Sordelet and Christian Kelly-Sordelet – you’ll emerge buzzed and bloody from this heart-pounding theatrical experience directed by Kathleen Kelly.
Performances will be held Mondays through Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets for the Splash Zone, which are located in the first two rows of the theater and include a free Brooklyn Beer and Blood-Shielding Poncho, are $35. General admission tickets, which include a free Brooklyn Beer, are $25. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/324234. (Free Brooklyn beers are only for Zombie Apocalypse victims age 21+.)
LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK is directed by Kathleen Kelly (Dog Sees God at Theatre Row). Jessica Aquila Cymerman (AMC’s The Walking Dead, Reefer Madness) is the assistant director. The fight choreographers are Rick Sordelet (56 Broadway productions including The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast) and Christian Kelly-Sordelet (Broadway’s Picnic).
Qui Nguyen is a writer, fight director and Co-Founder of NYC's OBIE Award-winning Vampire Cowboys, the company that first produced Living Dead in Denmark in May 2006. Currently, Qui's show She Kills Monsters is running in Chicago in Steppenwolf's Garage Rep with Buzz22 Chicago and in Boston with Company One. He is a proud member of New Dramatists, The Playwrights Center, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Ma-Yi Writers Lab, and The Brick. Currently, he's the Mellon Playwright-in-Residence with Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis.
LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK is presented by Just Kidding Theatre Company, Inc., a not-for-profit organization formed by graduates of the Neighborhood Playhouse whose mission is to produce artistically- and socially-progressive entertainment.
