ICARUS WINGED by Emilio Iasiello
July 27th, 2014 @ 3:00 PM
Synopsis: ACE is a rock and roll star beginning to hit it big. CALLY, a muse, considers Ace a pure artist and takes him to an island to inspire him to work on a breakthrough album. However, every time he gets started on a new song, Cally puts the breaks on. She tells him he’s forcing it,
not allowing the art to come through the pressure to write songs. So she tells him stories about artists – real artists – those who bled and died for their work. But another musician’s name comes up during the discussion – ROOK – a now famous smash success who used to be Cally’s
devotee. But Rook took the wrong path to his stardom and warns Ace that he’s at the crossroads of sticking with his art or going Top Forty.
Sure enough, Rook finds Ace and Cally. He’s been looking for her. He’s coming off a bad album and needs to find the magic again. The struggle for Cally begins between the pure artist and the corrupt artist. But as they battle to see who will win the rights to Cally’s powers, Rook teaches Ace a thing or two about the business and what’s expected of an artist by society, which is something that not even Cally can argue against.
