VAN'S SISTER

Character: Van’s Sister
New spin on: Lucy
On Character: If I remember Peanuts correctly, Lucy was the mature one, the wise one. Instead of a lemonade stand, she puts up a psychiatrist stand. Which, of course, makes it ironic that she's now in an insane asylum. But as "crazy" as she seems, she is still the wise one. She may have done some terrible things and have an unhealthy affinity for flames, but she was driven to it and her reasoning makes sense. It's the classic trope of madness being the window to truth. Lastly, and one of things that really makes me smile about her, is her vulnerability and loneliness. All her disillusionment has made her feel alone and she's locked up - that's why CB visiting on this day is so important. He maybe the last person on earth that could understand her.
On your own high school life: Wow. So...that was a very long time ago. I actually went to a special high school for theater in Los Angeles. It was wonderful because I enmeshed with young, dedicated, passionate people. There was plenty of drama, and being actors, we brought these things to theatrical proportions. Which makes me laugh a bit now. I was kind of the girl from the wrong side of the tracks who had a glimmer of something special that could possibly pull her out of it. People felt sorry for me, but they also admired me. I got into a lot of trouble, but in the end of the day - I think I did well for myself.
On Siblings: Haven't thought this through really. He's my little brother and he went from a little wimpy blanket lover to a hippie-dippy pothead. I think I've always been very protective of him, in a tough love kind of way, and now, carry some guilt for abandoning him.
